Struggle in Iran
June 22, 2009 - 4:19pm — joseAbout 6 months ago MeGlobe was covered on a very popular Iranian technology site 1pezeshk.com and as a result we had a large number of people from Iran become members of the MeGlobe community. Watching the events that are unfolding in Iran has been difficult for the entire team at MeGlobe since we value each member of our community and have come to think of them as family.
Watching the events unfold in near-real time on Twitter, Facebook and from conversations with our Iranian community members here on MeGlobe have given us real perspective on how much the flow of information throughout the globe has changed in the past 2-3 years. Before the advent of tools like Twitter and Facebook, Youtube etc, before the computing power that makes products like MeGlobe possible, we had to wait for news to be delivered via traditional channels like cnn.com or the Times. News that was already filtered and packaged for our consumption.... now we have access to the raw feed. These tools have the potential to change the world communicates if used properly.
Although watching events like violence taking place in Iran is very difficult at times, I think it's important for people to have access to unfiltered information.

MeGlobe desktop!
April 9, 2009 - 4:58pm — joseOne of the coolest features about MeGlobe is that it's web based so you don't have to worry about any downloads or installs when you want to meet and chat with people who live around the world...BUT we realize that there are still many of you out there that love their desktop IM clients so we've been hard at work developing a desktop version just for you!
Although it's still a work in progress, meaning that it's in beta, we've made sure that it's relatively bug free and has all the same features that our web version does. You'll have offline messaging, public and private multi-lingual chat rooms and access to your AOL, YAHOO and MSN buddy lists with our desktop client!

Send offline messages to your MeGlobe friends

We've just added an offline messaging system to put you in touch with your MeGlobe friends who you've had a hard time reaching because they're either on the other side of the world or just very busy! All you have to do is open your MeGlobe contact list and click on your offline friends name, type in a message in the chat box and send away. They'll be able to see your message the next time they log into their e-mail!
It's a great way to remind your friends to come join you on MeGlobe or just send them a quick message without having to log into your e-mail account.
